Joe Issa Likes Anne Hathaway’s Wedding Idiom

Of all the actresses in Hollywood it is Anne Hathaway who most impresses Joe Issa, not just because she has been placed among the world’s 50 most beautiful women, is immensely talented and involved in charitable work.

While Hathaway and Issa have all of these in common including being Roman Catholics, what sets her apart is what she had to say about the sanctity of marriage when she coined the idiom: Weddings are important because they celebrate life and possibility.

In fact Issa and Asha’s new millennium wedding is still being talked about today, 13 years later. Being the son of a hotel magnet the pre-publicity had been built in the social media pages.

Issa was quite young at the time and was carrying the label “Mr. Cool” given to him by his peers for his calmness and charm, which earned him a place among Jamaica’s 10 most handsome men; and for his immense popularity which made him one of the country’s most recognizable faces.

People say how handsome the nervous groom looked that day; but it was the bride’s electrifying smile that stole the spotlight on a day witnesses say enough tears flowed to fill the Mona Dam, when the couple walked down the aisle and the legendary Jimmy Cliff sang his most popular, heart-rending song “Many Rivers to Cross”.

Just as Hathaway wrote, today, the marriage has brought two loving kids and many possibilities which have been turned into business ventures by both Issa and his Cool Corporation and by Asha in her chain of boutiques.

Hathaway, who was born in 1982 and got married in 2012, was expecting her first child late last year. She is said to have acted in some 30 films, eight TV series, two theatres, and sang many songs. She has won 32 major industry accolades and was nominated for another 45 awards.

It said Hathaway’s portrayal of Fantine in Tom Hooper‘s Les Misérables in 2012, “earned her rave reviews and several accolades, including the Golden Globe Award, the Screen Actors Guild Award, the BAFTA Award and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.” That year she also played Selina Kyle as Catwoman in Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises.

People magazine named her one of its breakthrough stars of 2001, and she appeared on its list of the world’s 50 Most Beautiful People in 2006, according to Wikipedia.

Hathaway is involved with several charities, including The Creative Coalition, The Step Up Women’s Network, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Human Rights Campaign, and The Lollipop Theatre Network. In 2008, she was honored at Elle magazine’s “Women in Hollywood” tribute, and has also been honored for her work with Step Up Women’s Network.
